Charlie's Fly Box dressing

  • Hook Tiemco 100SPBL, 12-18
  • Thread Rusty Brown Veevus 14/0

Materials

  • Tail Dun or Brown Mayfly Tails
  • Body Rusty Brown or Brown Goose Biot
  • Glue Zap A Gap Brush
  • Parachute Cerise mcflylon
  • Wing Silver Polypropylene Macrame Yarn
  • Hackle Brown or Light Dun Whiting Rooster Cape or Saddle

How to tie it

  1. Start thread at mid-shank and run it back to above the barb.
  2. Tie in two or three microfibetts and split them into a wide V over a tiny dubbing ball, the splayed tails balance the fly flat on the film.
  3. Dub a slim, tapered rusty-brown body forward to the 65% mark, thin at the tail and building slightly toward the thorax.
  4. At the 65% mark tie a bunch of white poly yarn across the shank and figure-8 it into outstretched spent wings, one to each side, flat and horizontal.
  5. Dub a slightly fuller thorax over the wing base to lock the wings spent.
  6. Whip finish at the eye and add a drop of cement, leaving the wings flush to the surface.
