Ripple Ice flash UV pearl ripple ice flash (tail flash)
Rabbit zonker strip (standard) White rabbit zonker strip (1 (tail))
Schlappen or palmered hackle White/grizzly schlappen or palmered hackle (body)
Mallard flank Natural/dyed mallard flank (collar)
Zap-A-Gap (as needed)
How to tie it
Slide a gold brass cone onto the hook and seat it against the eye. Behind it, wrap about 20 turns of 3-0 lead wire and shove it forward into the cone.
Push the lead back slightly and apply Zap-A-Gap, then quickly push the lead forward into the cone so glue locks the cone and lead so neither can spin. Start white 140 thread behind the lead and cover it.
At the bend, tie in a heavy clump of blended tail flash (gold ice wing fiber mixed with UV pearl Ripple Ice); brush it out with a comb to release and mingle the fibers, then trim square to about a three-inch total tail length with a light taper.
Prepare a standard white rabbit zonker strip by cutting a small point in the hide; tie it in over the flash so the fur reaches the flash tips.
Tie in a schlappen/webby hackle and palmer it forward to build a flashy body, stroking fibers rearward each turn; tie off.
Tie in a mallard flank feather and make a turn or two as a soft collar, sweeping the fibers back.
Wrap a neat thread head against the back of the cone, whip finish and cement.
