  • Hook Daiichi 2220, 4-08
  • Thread Brown Vevuus 6/0

Materials

  • Cone Black Medium or Large Conehead
  • Wire 020”-030” Lead Wire
  • Tail White, Tan and Olive Blood Quill Marabou
  • Flash Copper or Rootbeer Krystal Flash
  • Body Gold Ice Dubbing
  • Belly Pearl Ice Dubbing

How to tie it

  1. Start thread at mid-shank and tie in a small pair of mottled turkey slips at the bend as a short tail.
  2. Tie in flat pearl/silver tinsel at the tail and wrap a smooth, flashy body forward to the 70% mark, then tie off.
  3. Tie in a sparse underwing of pearl Krystal Flash and a small bunch of squirrel over the body.
  4. Cap the wing with two matched mottled turkey slips, tented over the body and about one shank long.
  5. Switch to strong thread; spin a clump of natural deer hair at the 80% mark, then a second clump, packing each tight so the hair flares into a collar and head.
  6. Whip finish at the eye, then trim the spun hair to a bullet head, leaving a swept-back collar of tips.
  7. Add head cement to the thread wraps.
