Classic Recipe

  • Hook Jig hook, 16-20
  • Thread Dark 50D GSP

Materials

  • Bead Slotted tungsten (1)
  • Tail CDL (sparse)
  • Body Stripped quill or thread (smooth)
  • Hot spot Fl. tag (behind bead)
  • Coat UV resin (thin, full body)

How to tie it

  1. Slide a slotted tungsten bead onto the jig hook, slot to the eye, and mount the hook. Start dark GSP thread behind the bead.
  2. Run the thread to the bend and tie in a sparse, stiff Coq de Leon tail, one hook gap long. Kept sparse so it can't foul.
  3. Tie in the stripped quill (or use the thread itself) and wind a smooth, slim body forward to just behind the bead, building a slight taper.
  4. Add a short hot spot of fluorescent thread right behind the bead as a collar.
  5. Whip finish tight behind the bead.
  6. Coat the entire body and hot spot in a thin, even layer of UV resin and cure hard. The smooth shell is what gives it the sink rate.
