Classic Recipe
Hook Jig hook, 14-18
Thread Olive or brown 8/0
Materials
Tail Coq de Leon fibers (3-4)
Body Pheasant tail fibers (wrapped)
Thorax Peacock herl (2 wraps)
Coating UV resin (thin, over body only)
Bead Slotted tungsten (1)
How to tie it
Slide a slotted tungsten bead onto the jig hook.
Tie in 3-4 Coq de Leon tail fibers at the bend, about three-quarters of a shank length.
Tie in 4-5 pheasant tail fibers by their tips at the bend. Wrap forward in touching turns to the 70% mark, the natural barring of the fibers creates built-in segmentation.
Wrap 2 turns of peacock herl at the thorax for a small, dark bump.
Apply a thin coat of UV resin over the entire body, not the thorax. The resin should be just thick enough to seal the fibers, not build up bulk. Cure with a UV light.
Whip finish behind the bead.
