Prep in advance: cut grizzly saddle hackles to about 2.5 inches from the tip and coat the tie-in end of each with Zap-A-Gap; let dry so they lie flat.
Start thread sparsely at the very back of the hook. Tie in about 20 strands of pearl Mirage Flashabou by the tips at the bend for the tail, wrapping hard so it will not pull out.
Tie in a long clump of white bucktail at the back of the hook as the first layer; this sets the overall length of the fly. Follow with a length of Mirage Accent body flash surrounding it.
Add successive stacked clumps of white bucktail up the shank, distributing them around the hook and adding body flash between layers to build a full, tapered baitfish body.
Tie a hot pink bucktail clump along the bottom (belly) and a fluorescent blue clump along the top (back) to give the fly its color scheme.
Tie a prepped grizzly saddle hackle flat along each side as a lateral scale/cheek, the glued butt keeping it lying straight.
Build and taper a thread head, glue on the oval pupil eyes one per side, and coat the head with Zap-A-Gap. Whip finish and cement.
