McFly Angler dressing

  • Hook Risen 9231, 12
  • Thread Veevus (brown 10/0

Materials

  • Body 2mm Eva Foam (brown and yellow)
  • Glue Loctite Brush On
  • Legs Centipede Legs (small, speckled yellow)

How to tie it

  1. Cut a strip of tan foam about a hook-gap wide, start the thread, and lay a base along the shank.
  2. Bind the foam strip at the bend, leaving a short stub tail, then bind it again at mid-shank to create the first foam segment/hump.
  3. Knot a pair of rubber legs on each side at that mid-shank tie-down.
  4. Optionally wrap a little peacock herl under the next section for a buggy underbody.
  5. Fold the foam forward to form the front hump and tie it down one eye-length behind the eye, leaving a short foam head.
  6. Add the second pair of rubber legs at the front tie-down.
  7. Tie in a short tuft of orange poly yarn on top as a visibility post, whip finish under the foam, and cement the thread.
