Savage Flies dressing

  • Hook wet fly, 12-18
  • Thread Red

Materials

  • Tail Starling wing feather fibers
  • Body Red floss
  • Thorax Peacock herl
  • Hackle Starling

How to tie it

  1. Slide a gold bead to the eye and start the thread behind it.
  2. Tie in a short, stiff, splayed coq de Leon tail about half a shank long.
  3. Bind a strand of pearl tinsel at the bend for the rib.
  4. Dub a shaggy hare's ear body forward to just behind the bead, leaving room for the collar.
  5. Rib forward with 4-5 open turns of pearl tinsel for a flash segmentation; tie off and snip.
  6. Tie in a partridge feather by the tip and take 2 turns for a soft collar, fibers swept back.
  7. Whip finish behind the bead and add one drop of cement.
