Tyer Recipe

  • Hook curved scud/pupa hook, 12-16
  • Thread black 8/0

Materials

  • Bead (snowcone head) White bead (1 glass or tungsten bead)
  • Body thread/floss Black body thread/floss (smooth thin body)
  • Rib Silver holographic tinsel (1 strand)
  • Thorax (optional) Black thread (few thread wraps)

How to tie it

  1. Slide the white bead to the hook eye to form the snowcone head and start black thread behind it.
  2. Build a smooth slim black body from behind the bead down to the point above the barb.
  3. Counter-wrap the silver tinsel forward in 5-7 evenly spaced turns to the bead and tie off.
  4. Trim the rib and build a small black thread thorax collar tight behind the bead.
  5. Whip finish behind the bead and add a drop of head cement.
