Start the olive 14/0 thread leaving a little room behind the eye and wrap back to the bend.
Tie in a very small clump of mayfly brown Zelon at the bend, clip the forward butts off, and trim the shuck very short so it is just a tag past the bend.
Tie in a length of small copper wire, keeping it on your side of the hook, then run the thread up and back to build a smooth olive thread abdomen.
Wrap the copper wire forward in four or five evenly spaced turns to the 70% point; tie off and trim.
Tie in a CDC puff at the 70% point with the tips facing back, extending a little past the bend, using a couple of gathering wraps; clip the forward butts off in one smooth cut and check that it is locked in.
Spin a small noodle of superbright peacock dubbing and wrap the thorax forward, leaving a small gap behind the eye.
Pull the CDC tuft forward over the thorax, take a couple of wraps to secure it, come underneath, back over the top and underneath again.
Finish with a couple of half hitches, cut the thread and tidy up any stray dubbing fibers.
