Classic Recipe
- Hook standard dry fly, 1X fine, 18-22
- Thread black 10/0
Materials
- Rear gaster Black superfine dubbing (or bare thread) (tiny ball)
- Hackle Black or dark dun cock hackle, sized small (1 feather, 2 turns)
- Front thorax Black superfine dubbing (or bare thread) (tiny ball)
How to tie it
- On a small hook, dub a tiny shiny black ball at the rear third for the gaster. Keep everything sparse and delicate at this size.
- Tie in a short-fibred black hackle at the waist by its butt.
- Take just 2 turns of hackle for the legs, secure and clip close.
- Dub a small second black ball in front for the head.
- Whip finish at the eye and add a pinhead of cement.
