Reference Recipe

  • Hook standard wide-gap hook, 6-10
  • Thread tan 6/0 (140D)

Materials

  • Eyes Silver metal tape (small bead chain (optional), one pair)
  • Tail Tan/olive carapace (short marabou or Sili Legs)
  • Body Tan/olive carapace (one length chenille)
  • Legs Tan/olive rubber legs (2 pairs Sili Legs)

How to tie it

  1. Start thread mid-shank; optionally figure-8 small bead chain eyes at the front for a slight jig.
  2. Tie in a short marabou or Sili-Leg tail about one shank long at the bend.
  3. Tie in a length of chenille and knot two pairs of Sili Legs at the bend, splayed.
  4. Wrap the chenille forward in touching turns to just behind the eye and tie it off.
  5. Add a second pair of Sili Legs at the front, splayed to the sides.
  6. Whip finish and cement.
