Reference Recipe

  • Hook 3XL-4XL streamer hook, 6-10
  • Thread black 6/0 (140D)

Materials

  • Bead Gold or silver slotted tungsten bead (5/32 in, one)
  • Tail Black ostrich herl (one marabou plume tip)
  • Tail flash Holographic flash (3-4 strands Shuggy/Krystal Flash)
  • Body Silver/holographic flash (one length Shuggy chenille)
  • Hackle Black hackle (one saddle hackle, palmered)

How to tie it

  1. Slide the bead to the eye and start thread behind it.
  2. Tie in a marabou tail one shank length long. Measure it against the shank rather than eyeballing.
  3. Lay 3-4 strands of Shuggy flash over the tail the same length.
  4. Tie in a black saddle hackle by its tip and a length of Shuggy chenille at the tail base.
  5. Wrap the chenille forward in touching turns to the bead and tie it off.
  6. Palmer the hackle forward through the body in 5-6 open, even turns; tie off behind the bead and trim the excess.
  7. Whip finish behind the bead and cement.
