Reference Recipe

• Hook Curved-shank emerger hook, 16-20
• Thread Black or olive 14/0

Materials

• Bead Clear glass bead (1, small)
• Trailing shuck Amber/brown Antron or Zelon (few fibers)
• Abdomen Olive/gray thread or fine dubbing
• Rib Fine wire or Superhair (1 strand)
• Wing / emerging shuck White or pearl Fluorofibre (few fibers)
• Thorax Gray-olive dubbing (1 pinch)

How to tie it

1. Slide the clear glass bead to the eye so it sits as the thorax bubble; start thread behind it.
2. At the bend tie in a short sparse trailing shuck of Antron, a half shank long, to suggest the nymphal husk being shed.
3. Bind in the rib, then build a slim tapered abdomen forward to the glass bead.
4. Rib the abdomen with 5-6 open turns and tie off, keeping it thin.
5. Behind the bead tie in a short tuft of white Fluorofibre standing up and back as the emerging wing.
6. Dub a small thorax behind the bead to prop the wing, keeping the profile sparse.
7. Whip finish behind the bead, snip, and add a tiny drop of UV resin over the glass bead to seal it.
