Reference Recipe

  • Hook 3XL streamer hook, 6-10
  • Thread Black or to match 6/0

Materials

  • Bead / cone (optional) Gold or black bead (1)
  • Tail Marabou + Krystal Flash (1 plume + few strands)
  • Body Crystal / ice chenille (1 length)
  • Hackle Saddle hackle, matched color (1 feather)
  • Rib (optional) Fine wire (1 strand)

How to tie it

  1. Slide a bead to the eye if using, then start thread and lay a base to the bend.
  2. Tie in a marabou tail about one shank length long, with a few strands of flash on each side.
  3. Tie in the saddle hackle by the tip and a length of crystal/ice chenille at the bend; bind in a wire rib too for durability.
  4. Wrap the shimmer chenille forward to just behind the bead and tie off, building a sparkling body.
  5. Palmer the hackle forward in 5-6 open, evenly spaced turns to the bead and tie off.
  6. Counter-wrap the wire rib forward through the hackle to lock it down and tie off, then helicopter the wire to break it.
  7. Whip finish behind the bead, snip, and add a drop of cement.
