How to tie it
Slide a 3/32 inch bead onto a #16 curved caddis hook, start the tan Widow's Web thread behind it, and run a base back around the bend a little way.
Bring the thread forward and seat the bead properly against the eye, then return the thread to the rear.
Split the thread into two strands and lay a thin pinch of hare's ear dubbing (guard hairs and a little flash included) between them, spread out so it sits almost flat.
Close the split thread over the dubbing and twist it into a tight rope; add more twist before EVERY wrap, since the rope loses its shape as you go. If the wraps look too flat, twist harder; if the body is too bulky, pull some fibers out.
Wrap the dubbing rope forward to form the body, stroking the fibers back out of the way as you go, and stop leaving a little space behind the bead. Tie off and cut.
Stroke the fibers back (some will pull out, but most stay in) and check the bead is seated where you want it.
Dub a small head of a contrasting darker color in that space behind the bead, to mimic the darker head of a real caddis.
Finish off with a couple of securing wraps and a whip finish.
