Start Fl. Yellow 6/0 thread on a 2XL dry fly hook in size 12 or 14 and lay a base along the shank.
Bind a short piece of lime UV cheeky at the rear for a bright butt section, leaving it exposed at the back of the fly.
Tie a small bunch of Golden Pheasant Tippet on top for the tail, keeping the barred tips lined up, and throw a half hitch to hold it.
Blend the Light Olive SF Kapok Dubbing between your fingers to break up lumps, then spin it on loosely; the secret with kapok is not to smash it down, the fibres sticking out are what float the fly.
Wrap the body from front to back, leaving the butt exposed, then back to the front and clean off what you do not need, keeping the surface fuzzy.
Take a generous tuft of White Calf Tail from the lower end of the patch where the fibres are shorter and straighter, pull out the long strays, then grip the tips and pull all the junk from the butts.
Bind the calf tail in as a downswept Trude wing reaching to about the end of the tail, with firm turns and the thread kept toward the back of the hair, then cut the butts off at an angle.
Run a drop of head cement down into the butts on top of the shank, calf tail is slippery, and wrap over them to build a tapered base.
Tie in the Brown Dry Fly Saddle dull side forward and take about four turns with a little spacing, so the yellow thread shows through the hackle.
Nip the hackle off, whip finish, and finish the head with cement.
