Classic Recipe

  • Hook Jig hook, 12-16
  • Thread Tan 8/0

Materials

  • Bead Slotted tungsten (1)
  • Body Hare's ear dubbing (rough)
  • Rib Red wire (spiral)
  • Hot spot Fl. pink or orange thread (collar)

How to tie it

  1. Slide a slotted tungsten bead onto the jig hook and mount it. Start tan thread behind the bead.
  2. Tie in a length of red wire at the bend to hang for the rib.
  3. Dub a rough, buggy hare's-ear body forward to just behind the bead. A fat Walt's Worm body.
  4. Spiral the red wire forward in 4-5 evenly spaced turns for a segmented rib and helicopter it off.
  5. Build a hot collar of fluorescent pink or orange thread right behind the bead.
  6. Whip finish behind the bead and cement.
