Reference Recipe
- Hook Jig nymph hook, 14-18
- Thread Hot orange or pink 8/0
Materials
- Slotted tungsten bead Gold or copper slotted tungsten bead (1)
- Lead-free wire Silver lead free wire (6-8 turns)
- Body dubbing Natural hare's mask (1 pinch)
- Rib Small copper or red wire (1 strand)
- Flashback (optional) Pearl mylar (1 strip)
- Hot spot collar Fluoro orange/pink thread (few wraps)
How to tie it
- Slide the slotted bead onto the hook and seat it against the jig eye, then add a few wraps of wire behind it for weight and to jam the bead in place.
- Start thread and lay a smooth base from behind the bead to the bend.
- Tie in the rib wire at the bend, and a strip of pearl mylar there too if you want a flashback.
- Dub a slim, slightly tapered hare's-ear body forward to just behind the bead, keeping it buggy but thin.
- Counter-wrap the rib forward in 5-6 evenly spaced turns and tie off, then rib in a spiral so it doesn't nest in the dubbing.
- Pull the mylar over the top as a flashback and bind it behind the bead if used.
- Build a bright hot-spot collar of fluoro thread against the bead, whip finish, snip, and add a drop of cement.
