Streamer · Trout · Smallmouth Bass · Advanced · 1 version

Reference Recipe

  • Hook wide-gap streamer/saltwater hook, 1/0-2
  • Thread white 140 denier

Materials

  • Marabou White marabou (1 sparse clump)
  • Marabou Chartreuse marabou (1 clump)
  • Cactus chenille Pearl cactus chenille (1 length)
  • Finesse chenille Orange finesse chenille (short length)
  • Laser Dub Gray/olive laser dub (1 pinch)
  • Laser Dub Chartreuse ice dub (1 pinch)
  • Laser Dub White laser dub (1 pinch)
  • Living Eyes Silver d eyes mm (5mm, pair)
  • UV resin Clear uv resin (as needed)

How to tie it

  1. Lay a thread base to the bend. Bind a sparse white marabou clump one shank length, then stack a chartreuse clump on top for a sexy-shad tail.
  2. Tie in pearl cactus chenille and wrap forward to the 60% mark; bind and snip.
  3. Tie in orange finesse chenille and take 2-3 turns for the throat gill accent; bind and snip.
  4. Add a small chartreuse marabou clump over the top, reaching to mid-tail.
  5. Reverse-tie gray/olive Laser Dub on top, a thin chartreuse band along the flank, and white on the belly so the fibers flare; sweep back and pinch a minnow head.
  6. Whip finish at the eye and clip. Glue a 5mm silver living eye to each side.
  7. Seal with thin UV resin and cure, then a thicker coat over the eyes and cure; trim to a slim shad profile and mark a black lateral line with marker if desired.
