Marabou Olive/black/orange marabou (1 tail plume)
Krystal Flash Pearl flashabou (4 strands)
Straggle/ice-dub chenille To match tail (1 length)
Soft hackle To match soft hackle (1 feather (optional))
How to tie it
Lock the hook in and lay a thread base. At the very front, figure-8 a pair of foam booby eyes (or a foam cylinder) right behind the hook eye. This is the float that stands the fly up off the bottom.
Wrap back to the bend and tie in a marabou tail one to one-and-a-half shanks long, with a couple of flash strands.
Tie in a length of straggle or ice-dub chenille at the bend.
Wrap the body forward to just behind the foam eyes, leaving room to finish.
Optional: take a couple of turns of soft hackle behind the eyes for a breathing collar.
Whip finish between the eyes and the hook eye, and cement.
