Slide the bead onto a size 12 1XL barbless wet-fly hook and run about ten turns of 0.015 lead wire behind it, shoving them up into the back of the bead.
Start black 70 denier thread, take a few wraps over the lead to dam it behind the bead, then carry the thread back toward the rear of the shank.
Fold a short piece of Sexi-floss over the shank for the tail and hold it with two or three loose wraps while you work the two legs round to opposite sides; it will spin on you, so follow with tight wraps the moment the splay looks right.
Carry the thread back a touch further so the body will run longer than the tie-in point, and bury the front nub of the tail.
Catch the medium wire in about midway along the shank and leave the thread back short of the bead so there is room for a thorax.
Wrap the wire forward in touching turns up to the hanging thread, letting a little thread show through underneath rather than fighting for perfect coverage.
Lock the wire with a whole bunch of thread wraps in one spot, then helicopter the tag off.
Fold a slightly longer piece of Sexi-floss over the shank for the legs, position them with a few loose wraps so they come off either side, then tighten down; they do not have to splay perfectly yet.
Wax the thread, spin on a noodle of fuzzy dubbing about three fingers long and wrap the thorax, dropping one wrap behind the legs to open them out.
Take no wraps in front of the legs; whip finish right there behind the bead.
Open the front legs up and snip them stubby, leaving them longer only if you want a bluegill fly.
