Materials

  • Bead Gold bead (tungsten, sized to hook)
  • Tail Brown permanent marker (2 goose biots, split)
  • Abdomen Chosen accent (MFC Sexi-Floss)
  • Wingcase Pearl flashabou (flashabou or thin-skin over)
  • Thorax Natural case (peacock herl)
  • Legs Mottled rubber legs (hen or partridge fibers)

How to tie it

  1. Slide the bead on and start thread behind it, running a base to the point above the barb.
  2. Tie in two brown goose biots as a short split tail, about one hook-gap long.
  3. Tie in the Sexi-Floss and wrap a smooth, slightly tapered abdomen forward over the rear two-thirds.
  4. Tie in a strand of pearl flash for the wingcase, then two peacock herls, and wrap the herl into a thorax behind the bead.
  5. Fold the pearl flash forward over the thorax as a wingcase and tie off.
  6. Add a few mottled leg fibers to each side and whip finish behind the bead.
