  • Thread black 8/0

Materials

  • Tail Barred wood duck or a few brown hackle fibers (small bunch)
  • Body Dark green floss (full shank)

  • Hackle Brown hen hackle, tied as a beard/collar (1)
  • Wing Dark brown mottled turkey slips (matched pair)

  1. Lay a thread base; if desired, tie in a small tail of wood duck or brown hackle fibers.
  2. Tie in the yellow silk rib at the rear, then wrap a smooth dark green floss body forward.
  3. Spiral the yellow rib forward in 4-5 evenly spaced turns to segment the green body.
  4. Wind or tie in a brown hen hackle as a sparse throat/beard swept down.
  5. Set matched slips of dark brown mottled turkey as a low downwing over the body, curving down along the shank.
  6. Whip finish a small black head and cement.
