Slide a 2.4mm tungsten Bead onto a size 14 barbless curved-shank hook and push it to the eye.
Add eight or nine wraps of 0.015 lead-free Weight behind the bead and jam them up tight into it.
Start black thread and build a small dam right behind the wire, take a few turns over the wraps, and smooth a taper between the front of the wire and the bare shank.
Catch in one strand of Z-lon for the Body along with a strand of small crystal flash, and bind them rearward around the bend to where the body will start.
Bring the thread forward and hang it about a bead length behind the bead, leaving room for the thorax.
Spin the Z-lon and flash together into a tight rope and wrap it forward to the hanging thread, giving it another spin every wrap or so.
Lock the rope down with two or three tight wraps and snip the excess.
Wax the thread and dub about an inch of hare's mask Thorax mixed with a little brown rabbit, wrap it in behind the bead, and whip finish.
Scrub the thorax with a velcro brush to pull the guard hairs out until it looks spiky and buggy.
