Reference Recipe
- Hook 2XL curved caddis/pupa hook, 6-10
- Thread orange 6/0 (140 denier)
Materials
- Tungsten bead Gold or black bead (1 (to fit hook))
- Dubbing Orange/amber dubbing (for abdomen)
- Dubbing Dark brown dubbing (for thorax)
- Wire Copper wire (1 length)
- Partridge or hen hackle Brown hen hackle (1 feather)
How to tie it
- Slide a tungsten bead to the eye, lock the hook in, and tie in the wire rib at the bend.
- Dub a plump orange/amber abdomen forward to the 70% mark.
- Counter-rib forward with the wire in 5-6 open turns and tie off.
- Dub a dark-brown thorax collar behind the bead.
- Tie in a brown partridge or hen soft hackle and take 2 turns for legs; sweep the fibers back and lock them.
- Whip finish behind the bead and cement.
