Reference Recipe

  • Hook standard dry fly, 12-16
  • Thread olive 8/0 (70 denier)

Materials

  • Dubbing or antron Lime green dubbing or antron (small amount)
  • Brown hackle Brown hackle (1 feather)
  • Elk or deer hair Natural deer hair (1 clump (wing))

How to tie it

  1. Lay a thread base to the bend and tie in a brown hackle by its butt.
  2. Dub a lime-green body forward to the 75% mark.
  3. Palmer the hackle forward through the body in 4-5 open turns and tie off.
  4. Stack a clump of elk hair and tie it in as a down-wing over the body with the tips reaching the bend and the butt ends facing forward over the eye.
  5. Trim the butt ends to a short, upright head just behind the eye.
  6. Whip finish under the head and cement.
