How to tie it
Set the size 8 Jig Force Long with the 5.5mm slotted bead and 0.015 lead wraps, start light olive 140 behind the wraps and bind them down before anything else.
Take the thread to the bend and tie in a generous bunch of black barred olive marabou, roughly a hook length. Carry the tie-down slightly into the bend and take a few wraps underneath the tail. The further down you go, the less the marabou can foul around the hook.
Tidy the underbody into a smooth transition. It gets covered, but lumps show through the straggle later.
Tie in the Pesava straggle and palmer it forward with the rotary function, stopping about a bead's length short of the bead so there is room for the head, then wrap backwards over it to sweep the fibers rearward. This one material is a synthetic complex twist. Natural-looking hackle and flash in a single strand, no two-material headache.
Add a single strand of olive black flake rubber leg doubled over on each side for movement. On smaller versions, cut one strand in half and double that instead.
For the collar, fold the bottom half of a marabou feather over on itself, clip it, and load it into a split thread loop. Marabou's natural oils hold it in place, so wax is optional. Set the fiber length now, before you twist, and keep a bodkin handy to pick fibers free as you cord it up.
Wrap the collar forward, sweeping fibers back on every turn, build a small head, brush everything out and check it before committing. This is your last chance to unwrap and redo. Whip finish, coat with Solarez Bone Dry and cure. If the collar is too long, simply pluck the fiber tips off to shorten it and let the flash show through.
