Reference Recipe

  • Hook jig streamer hook, 4-8
  • Thread tan 140 denier

Materials

  • Slotted tungsten bead Mottled/tan slotted tungsten bead (1 (to fit hook))
  • Marabou or rabbit strip Tan marabou (1 (tail))
  • Krystal Flash Copper/pearl flash (4 strands)
  • Dubbing brush or ice dub Tan dubbing (1)
  • Barred rubber legs Tan barred rubber legs medium (1 pair)
  • Laser Dub Tan/mottled laser dub (2 clumps (head))

How to tie it

  1. Slide a slotted tungsten bead onto the jig-hook eye, lock the hook in, and lay a thread base.
  2. Tie in a tan marabou or rabbit-strip tail one shank long at the bend, with a couple of flash strands.
  3. Tie in a tan dubbing brush (or ice dub) and wrap a shaggy body forward to the 70% mark.
  4. Figure-8 a pair of barred rubber legs at 70% so they splay to the sides.
  5. Pack two clumps of tan Laser Dub behind the bead for a bulky head, jamming each so it flares.
  6. Whip finish behind the bead, then trim the head to a broad, flat sculpin wedge. Cement the thread.
