  • Hook streamer or jig streamer, 2-6
  • Thread olive 140 denier

Materials

  • Sculpin helmet or cone Olive/brown sculpin helmet or cone (1 (to fit hook))
  • Rabbit strip (Zonker) Olive or black rabbit strip (1 strip (tail))
  • Ice dub Olive/peacock ice dub (small amount)
  • Krystal Flash Copper flashabou (6 strands)

How to tie it

  1. Slide a sculpin helmet (or cone) onto the hook and park it at the eye; lock the hook in and lay a thread base to the bend.
  2. Tie in a rabbit-strip tail one-and-a-half to two shanks long at the bend, with a few flash strands each side.
  3. Dub a shaggy ice-dub body forward (or palmer a cross-cut strip) to the 75% mark.
  4. Tie in a schlappen or soft hackle and wrap 3-4 turns for a pulsing collar; sweep the fibers back.
  5. Slide the sculpin helmet up tight against the collar and lock it with thread wraps behind and in front of it.
  6. Whip finish and cement.
