Slide a 3.2mm brass Bead onto the size 12 barbless shrimp and caddis hook, start Veevus 10/0 right behind the bead, wrap a short base rearward, then come back forward to about halfway, just past the hook point.
Strip the fur off the end of a Pine Squirrel Strip, add a dot of super glue, and bind the strip down tight at that point for the tail, leaving a little bare shank short of the bead.
Tie in a single strand of gold Midge Flash so it extends back about as long as the tail, then carry it around and bind the other side in as well. Trim both to the same length.
Form a thread loop at the tie-in point, hang a dubbing twister on it, and set it aside.
Clip a second Pine Squirrel Strip into a chip clip, slightly shorter than the tail, and insert it into the loop with the hide edge sitting almost right at the edge of the thread. Twist it up with two tight twists to build a pine squirrel hackle.
Brush the twisted hackle out with a toothbrush, then wrap it forward in touching wraps, pulling the fur back on every turn, timing it so you run out right at the bead. Capture it with two wraps underneath, pull back, and two wraps over.
Wet your fingers, sweep everything rearward out of the way, and wrap back over the fur to expose the small gap that is always left behind the bead.
Dub a tight noodle of Antron Dubbing and fill that gap, then whip finish.
Lay a little head cement into the dubbing and let it soak in; it dries clear and the head fluffs up as it dries.
