Reference Recipe

  • Hook 3XL streamer, 8-12
  • Thread olive 6/0 (140 denier)

Materials

  • Gold bead Gold bead (1 (to fit hook))
  • Marabou Olive marabou (1 tail plume)
  • Krystal Flash Olive/pearl flash (4 strands)
  • Chenille or dubbing Olive ice dub (1 length)
  • Grizzly hackle Olive-dyed grizzly hackle (1 feather)

How to tie it

  1. Slide a gold bead to the hook eye, lock the hook in, and lay a thread base to the bend.
  2. Tie in an olive marabou tail one shank long, sparse and mobile, with a couple of flash strands each side.
  3. Tie in an olive grizzly hackle by its tip and a length of olive chenille (or dub a shaggy body) at the bend.
  4. Wrap the body forward to the bead and tie off.
  5. Palmer the hackle forward through the body in 5-6 evenly spaced turns and tie off behind the bead; pick out any trapped fibers.
  6. Whip finish behind the bead and cement.
