How to tie it
Start white 150 GSP on the SA280 and work back and forth a few times to build a solid platform for the eyes. Mount the medium black brass dumbbell about one eye-length behind the hook eye. Leaving that gap is what gives you room to finish the fly later without crowding.
Lock the eyes with three cross wraps in each direction, glue with Zap-A-Gap, then cord the thread and take flat wraps around the base of the eyes to draw the cross wraps in, alternating flat and cross wraps until nothing moves.
Run the thread back to the bend and tie in a generous clump of fluorescent peach marabou, about two dozen strands from a large blood quill, a hook length and a half long. Bind the butts forward to the eyes to build an even base for what comes next.
Tie the Stonfo molded shrimp eyes in on that even base so they cannot roll. They pop straight out of the mold, come in several colors and two sizes, and at a few dollars for ten pairs they are far and away the cheapest shrimp eyes available.
Double a strand of black crystal flash over the thread so half falls on each side as antennae, and bind it back evenly without letting it roll around the shank.
Tie peach Estaz in at the rear, bind it forward to the eyes for an even underbody, then wrap it forward in open spirals and figure-eight around and under the dumbbell eyes so there are no bare patches.
Whip finish before cutting the Estaz off, that way nothing can unravel while you finish, then trim, clear the hook eye, coat the head with Solarez Bone Dry and cure. Trim the antennae to length last.
