How to tie it
Lock the hook in and lay a thread base back to the hook point. Tie in a webby schlappen feather by its tip and take 4-6 wraps to build a soft, fluttering tail one shank length long; strip the excess.
Lay 2-3 strands of flash down each side to the tail length, then tie in a single strand of polar chenille.
Wrap the polar chenille forward in 4-5 touching turns to the 60% mark and tie off; this sparkly collar is all the body this 'illusionist' needs.
Stack a sparse clump of marabou on top reaching to the tail tip for the wing, then a matching clump below; keeping material behind the head minimal is what makes it dart.
Figure-8 a pair of rubber legs at the 65% mark so they splay to the sides.
Tie a set of I-Balz (or barred dumbbell) eyes across the shank at the 75% mark with tight figure-8 wraps.
Pack Laser Dub around the eyes in two or three stacked clumps, jamming each so it flares, until the head is full up to the eye.
Whip finish behind the hook eye, then trim the Laser Dub to a broad, flat baitfish head. Wide across the eyes, tapering top and bottom. Add a drop of cement to the thread.
