Fly Fishing the Ozarks - Brian Wise dressing

Materials

  • Eyes Real Eyes (or Clear Cure Weighted Eyes)
  • Tail Bucktail
  • Tail Marabou
  • Tail Flashabou
  • Tail Flash Blend
  • Tail Crystal flash
  • Tail Peacock herl
  • Tail Rubber Legs (Spinnerbait Skirt!)
  • Hackle Barred Saddle (or Barred Schlappen)
  • Head Craft Fur Dubbing Brush colored with markers

How to tie it

  1. Lash bead-chain or small lead eyes near the eye so the hook rides point-up.
  2. At the bend tie in a tan/brown hair tail with a few strands of pearl Krystal Flash, tail about one shank length.
  3. Tie in several peacock herls and twist them into a rope.
  4. Wrap the peacock rope forward to the eyes to form a buggy, iridescent body.
  5. Figure-8 two or three rubber legs along the body so they splay and undulate.
  6. Add a dubbed collar behind the eyes to prop the legs if needed, then whip finish and cement.
