Reference Recipe

  • Hook saltwater stainless, 1/0-4
  • Thread white / clear mono clear mono or flat waxed

Materials

  • Bucktail (belly) White bucktail (sparse clump)
  • Flash Pearl flashabou (few strands)
  • Bucktail (back) Olive or tan bucktail (sparse clump)
  • Stick-on eyes Silver d eyes mm (1 pair, small)
  • UV resin Clear uv resin (as needed)

How to tie it

  1. Start thread near the eye and tie in a sparse white bucktail belly, long and slim, two to three shank lengths.
  2. Add a few strands of pearl flash over the belly.
  3. Tie in a sparse olive or tan bucktail over the top for the back, matching length; keep the profile pencil-thin.
  4. Switch to clear mono thread (or keep thread sparse) and build a slim, tapered head over the front third.
  5. Set small stick-on eyes on each side of the head.
  6. Coat the head and forward body with thin UV resin to lock the eyes and form a slender, translucent body; cure.
  7. Add a second thin UV coat for a smooth, hard, minnow-like finish and cure hard.
