Materials
Bead Brown bead (1)
Tail Brown olive head hair (3 strands Crystal Flash)
Rib Brown permanent marker (wire)
Shellback (5 mm strip of anti-static bag)
Wing case (7.5 mm strip of anti-static bag)
Thorax (hare's ear dubbing with a little Ice Dub blended in)
Legs Brown olive rubber legs (a couple more strands of Crystal Flash)
How to tie it
Slide a brown bead onto a 2X long nymph hook and start rusty brown thread. Tie three strands of brown olive Crystal Flash in as the tail, then brown wire and a 5 mm strip of anti-static bag.
Build a tapered thread body forward, then pull the anti-static bag over the top as a shellback and tie it off. The ASB shellback is what gives the abdomen its wet, translucent sheen.
Rib the abdomen with the brown wire in even segments, tie off and helicopter the wire out.
Tie a wider 7.5 mm strip of anti-static bag in for the wing case. It needs to be wider than the shellback because the thorax is fatter.
Dub a thorax of hare's ear with a little Ice Dub blended in, then add a couple more strands of brown olive Crystal Flash for legs.
Pull the wing case forward, tie it off, trim, whip finish and trim the legs to length.
