Straight pin and bead Silver / red or black bead (1 pin, 1 bead)
Marabou (tail) Black, wine, or brown (1 plume)
Ruby/red eyes Red buzzer wrap (1 pair)
Ice dub or chenille (body) Black/wine (short length)
Schlappen (palmer) Black saddle hackle (1 feather)
How to tie it
Lay a pin along the top of the hook shank with the bead threaded on its front end, and lash the pin down so the bead sits just ahead of the eye; this balances the fly to hang horizontally.
Wrap back over the pin to the bend and tie in a marabou tail one shank length long.
Tie in the red eyes at the balance point just behind the bead and bind in a soft hackle and the body dubbing at the bend.
Dub a slim, shaggy body forward to the eyes.
Palmer the hackle forward in 5-6 open turns and tie off at the eyes.
Whip finish behind the bead and cement; the fly should hang level from the point when suspended.
