Rubber Legs TB

Nymph · Trout · Intermediate · 1 version

Reference Recipe

  • Hook 2XL-3XL curved nymph hook, #6-12
  • Thread black 6/0

Materials

  • Slotted tungsten bead Gold, copper, or black slotted tungsten bead (3.3-4.0mm)
  • Variegated chenille (body) Brown/black or coffee-black (1 length)
  • Round rubber legs Barred brown/black rubber legs (3 pairs)

How to tie it

  1. Slide the tungsten bead to the eye, start thread behind it and lay a base to the bend.
  2. Tie in a splayed pair of rubber-leg tails at the bend, half a shank long.
  3. Bind in the variegated chenille and wind thread forward to the bead.
  4. Wrap the chenille forward, figure-8ing in a pair of rubber legs at the one-third and two-thirds marks so three sets flare to the sides.
  5. Bring the chenille to the bead and tie off; leave the front pair as forward antennae and trim legs to roughly a shank length.
  6. Whip finish behind the bead and cement.
