Nymph · Trout · Intermediate · 1 version

Reference Recipe

  • Hook 3XL-4XL curved nymph hook, #4-10
  • Thread brown or black 6/0

Materials

  • Bead Gold or black bead (3.5-4.5mm)
  • Variegated chenille (body) Brown/black variegated chenille (1 length)
  • Round rubber legs Barred brown/black rubber legs (3 pairs)

How to tie it

  1. Slide the bead to the eye and start thread behind it, running a base to the bend.
  2. Tie in a splayed pair of rubber legs as tails at the bend, half a shank long.
  3. Bind in the variegated chenille at the bend and advance the thread to just behind the bead.
  4. Wrap the chenille forward, stopping at the one-third and two-thirds marks to figure-8 in a pair of rubber legs at each so three sets splay outward.
  5. Wind the chenille up to the bead and tie off; leave the front legs forward as antennae and trim all legs to about a shank length.
  6. Whip finish behind the bead and add a drop of cement.
