  • Hook 2XL-3XL curved nymph hook, #6-12

Materials

  • Tungsten bead Gold or black bead (3.3-4.0mm)
  • Goose biots or rubber legs (tail) Brown/black goose biots (1 pair)
  • Ice dub or Lite Brite (body) Peacock/brown or fine dubbing (pinch)
  • Fine wire or flash (rib) Copper flashabou (short length)
  • Round rubber legs (legs) Barred brown/black rubber legs (3 pairs)
  • Ice dub (thorax) Peacock ice dub (pinch)

How to tie it

  1. Slide the tungsten bead to the eye, start thread behind it and lay a base to the bend.
  2. Tie in a split biot or rubber-leg tail, half a shank long, and bind in the copper rib.
  3. Dub a sparkly, tapered abdomen of ice dub forward to the 60% mark.
  4. Rib forward with 5-6 open turns of wire and tie off; the flash under the rib is the 'jewel' of this stone.
  5. Figure-8 in two pairs of barred rubber legs at the thorax and one pair angled back as antennae at the front.
  6. Dub a fatter peacock ice-dub thorax between and over the leg roots up to the bead.
  7. Whip finish behind the bead and add a drop of cement.
