How to tie it
Start Nano Silk 12/0 at the midpoint of a 25mm Waddington shank and wrap tight to the rear loop and back to hold everything together. Loop about ten inches of 30 lb Fireline through the OPST hook and flatten it with smooth pliers, which is what lets you pull it through the gap in the shank.
Thread both tags through the rear loop from underneath, measure just enough tether to change the hook, then lash it down towards the rear loop and back and whip finish. Run the ends through the front loop, pull them flush with pliers, secure them keeping the tags parallel, then bring them back through the rear loop and lash them on top of the hook. Trim flush and cement.
Tie a golden pheasant crest in on top for the tail with the tip slightly past the hook, stripping the stem to the same length as the threaded area first so it lies flat, then cement the whole wrap.
Spin pink Ice Dub in a split thread, brush it out to thin the bulk, and wrap it from the tail forward to the halfway point, pulling the fibres back after each turn. Brushing before wrapping is what turns a fat rope into a wide, breathing hackle.
Wrap a folded pink guinea fowl collar in front of the dubbing, then set purple-with-pink-tip rubber legs on top, underneath and on each side, keeping the tips level. Wire everything back out of the way, then spin black Ice Dub and wrap the middle section, add a folded purple guinea collar and a second set of the same rubber legs.
Spin blue Ice Dub and wrap the front section along the groove of the shank, then switch to Nano Silk 18/0 and add four clear silver-flecked rubber legs on all four sides, slightly shorter than the crest, plus doubled strands of pearl Flashabou on three sides trimmed even with the crest.
Spin a split-thread collar of black Finn raccoon, spreading the fur with a bodkin first so it goes on sparse, then tie an orange Finn raccoon strip in on top as the wing with a soft loop. Add grizzly hackle tips level with the hook point and jungle cock about half the body length on each side. Cover the white head in black thread, cement, epoxy, and once dry trim all the pink-tipped legs even.
