RS2 CDC

Nymph · Trout · Intermediate · 1 version

Reference Recipe

  • Hook standard nymph/dry hook, #18-24
  • Thread gray 8/0

Materials

  • Microfibetts (tails) Dun microfibetts (2 fibers)
  • Thread (abdomen) Gray thread (trace)
  • CDC (wing) Natural dun cdc feather (small clump of tips)
  • Superfine dubbing (thorax) Gray superfine dubbing (pinch)

How to tie it

  1. Lay a smooth thread base to the bend and tie in two split dun Microfibett tails one shank length long.
  2. Wind a slim, tapered thread abdomen forward to the 60% mark.
  3. Tie in a small bunch of CDC tips upright at the 60% mark, no taller than one hook gap, as the wing.
  4. Dub a very sparse gray thorax around and in front of the wing; a little CDC and a little dubbing go a long way.
  5. Whip finish behind the eye and leave it cement-free so the CDC keeps floating in the film.
