RS2 CDC
Nymph · Trout · Intermediate · 1 version
Reference Recipe
- Hook standard nymph/dry hook, #18-24
- Thread gray 8/0
Materials
- Microfibetts (tails) Dun microfibetts (2 fibers)
- Thread (abdomen) Gray thread (trace)
- CDC (wing) Natural dun cdc feather (small clump of tips)
- Superfine dubbing (thorax) Gray superfine dubbing (pinch)
How to tie it
- Lay a smooth thread base to the bend and tie in two split dun Microfibett tails one shank length long.
- Wind a slim, tapered thread abdomen forward to the 60% mark.
- Tie in a small bunch of CDC tips upright at the 60% mark, no taller than one hook gap, as the wing.
- Dub a very sparse gray thorax around and in front of the wing; a little CDC and a little dubbing go a long way.
- Whip finish behind the eye and leave it cement-free so the CDC keeps floating in the film.
