Reference Recipe

• Hook barbless jig nymph hook, #14-18
• Thread black 8/0

Materials

• Slotted tungsten bead Copper or black slotted tungsten bead (2.8-3.4mm)
• Coq de Leon fibers (tail) Pardo (small clump)
• Pheasant tail fibers (body/thorax) Natural pheasant tail fibers (4-5 fibers)
• Fine copper wire (rib) Copper wire (short length)
• Poly yarn or Antron (wing) White poly yarn (small tuft)

How to tie it

1. Bead the jig hook, start thread behind the bead and lay a base to the bend.
2. Tie in a short pardo Coq de Leon tail one shank length long and bind in the copper wire for the rib.
3. Wrap 4-5 pheasant tail fibers forward as a slim abdomen to the 65% mark, then counter-wrap the copper rib forward in 4-5 open turns and tie off; the counter-wrap locks the fragile fibers.
4. Post a short tuft of white poly yarn behind the bead as an upright wing/sighter, no taller than one hook gap, and trim the butts.
5. Fold the remaining pheasant tail fibers forward over the thorax as a wing case, split around the white wing, and tie down behind the bead.
6. Whip finish behind the bead and add a drop of cement.
