  • Hook standard dry-fly/emerger hook, 16-20
  • Thread Olive or tan 14/0

Materials

  • Butt/tag Pearl tinsel (short)
  • Tail Coq de Leon (or microfibetts) (few fibers)
  • Body Olive or tan dubbing (thin)
  • Wing CDC, dun (1-2 feathers)
  • Thorax dubbing Match body (small pinch)

How to tie it

  1. Start thread and lay a base to the bend.
  2. Tie in a short pearl tinsel butt/tag at the tail. This pearl trigger is what pulls up rising and non-rising fish.
  3. Bind a few Coq de Leon fibers as a short split or bunched tail over the butt.
  4. Dub a very thin body (half the dubbing you think) forward to the 65% mark.
  5. Tie in one or two dun CDC feathers as an upright emerger wing standing over the thorax.
  6. Dub a small thorax around the wing base to lock it and sweep loose CDC fibers back as legs.
  7. Whip finish behind the eye and add a tiny drop of cement at the head, kept off the CDC.
