  • Hook barbless jig hook, 12-16
  • Thread Fluorescent red 12/0

Materials

  • Slotted tungsten bead (oversized) Silver bead (4.0mm, 1)
  • Tail Coq de Leon, dark pardo (few fibers)
  • Body dubbing Hare's ear (small pinch)
  • Thorax dubbing Dark hare's ear (small pinch)
  • Rib Copper wire (1 strand)

How to tie it

  1. Slide the oversized silver tungsten bead onto the jig hook, a big bead to bomb it to the bottom; seat it and start fluorescent red thread.
  2. Lay a base to the bend and bind a short Coq de Leon tail (dark pardo), half a shank and sparse.
  3. Tie in fine copper wire at the tail.
  4. Dub a shaggy hare's-ear body two-thirds of the way forward.
  5. Counter-rib the copper wire forward in 5-6 turns and tie off, leaving a band of bare red thread showing at the bead as a hot spot.
  6. Dub a rougher dark hare's-ear thorax behind the bead and pick it out spiky with a bodkin for buggy legs.
  7. Whip finish, showing a red hot-spot collar at the bead, and cement.
