Reference Recipe

  • Hook barbless jig hook, 14-18
  • Thread Black 70D

Materials

  • Slotted tungsten bead Silver bead (3.2mm, 1)
  • Tag Fl. yellow-chartreuse Glo-Brite (short)
  • Body Black thread (slim)
  • Rib Bright silver wire (1 strand)
  • Collar CDC, medium dun (1 feather)
  • Head dubbing Peacock black ice dub (small pinch)

How to tie it

  1. Slide the silver tungsten bead onto the jig hook; seat it and start black thread.
  2. Lay a base to the bend and tie in a short bright chartreuse Glo-Brite tag, no longer than the hook gap.
  3. Tie in fine bright silver wire at the tag.
  4. Build a slim black thread body forward to behind the bead.
  5. Rib the silver wire forward in 5-7 open turns for segmentation and flash; helicopter to break.
  6. Fold a CDC feather and tie it in (or spin it in a loop) and take 1-2 turns as a soft dun collar; sweep back.
  7. Dub a tiny peacock-black head against the bead, whip finish, and cement.
