  • Hook standard dry-fly hook, 12-16
  • Thread Black 8/0

Materials

  • Wings White duck quill (or calf tips) (upright divided pair)
  • Tail Golden pheasant tippets (1 small bunch)
  • Body Peacock herl / red floss / peacock herl (banded)
  • Hackle Coachman brown hackle (1 feather)

How to tie it

  1. Start thread and tie in upright divided white duck-quill (or calf-tip) wings at the 70% mark; post and divide them.
  2. Wrap thread to the bend and tie in a golden pheasant tippet tail, one shank long.
  3. Tie in 2 peacock herls; make a small peacock ball, tie in red floss and wrap a center band, then a second peacock ball, stopping behind the wings.
  4. Tie in a brown hackle behind the wings.
  5. Wind 2-3 hackle turns behind the wings and 2 in front; tie off.
  6. Whip finish and cement.
