Materials
Tungsten bead Gold bead (1, 2.8 mm)
Rooster hackle (fibers, for tail) Brown hackle (2 small clumps)
Wire Gold wire (Small, 1 length (rib))
Arctic fox Black ostrich herl (A pinch, carded and dubbed (body))
Rooster hackle Brown hackle (1 feather (palmered body hackle))
How to tie it
Slide a 2.8 mm gold tungsten bead onto a #14 1x-long hook, then start brown 14/0 thread behind the bead and run it back to the bend.
Pull two small, slightly oversized clumps of brown rooster hackle fibers, match the tips, and tie them in at the bend for a tail one shank-length long; trim the butts.
Tie in a length of small gold wire, starting it on the near side and wrapping around so it ends up on the far side of the shank.
Prepare a brown rooster hackle by clipping the barbs near the stem down to short stubs (a 'comb') so the thread bites, and tie it in at the bend.
Card a pinch of black arctic fox, pull the guard hairs out and get the fibers to one even length, and dub a smooth, untapered body from the bend up to right behind the bead.
Palmer the brown hackle forward in evenly spaced turns to the bead, take one full wrap tight behind the bead, secure with thread, and clip the excess.
Wrap the gold wire forward in the SAME direction as the thread and hackle (do not counter-wrap, counter-wrapping through this hackle mats all the barbs down), working the wire between the fibers up to the bead.
Secure the wire behind the bead with thread and helicopter off the excess.
