Bead Brown bead (7/64 Togen magic bead, behind the glass bead)
Rib Copper brown material (small ultra wire)
Body Root beer buzzer wrap (buzzer wrap)
Finish (UV resin)
How to tie it
Put the brown 7/64 magic bead on the size 10 scud hook first and the clear pearl glass bead in front of it, then start rusty brown 70 denier thread behind them.
Tie small copper brown ultra wire down the near side of the shank and run it into the bend, then capture the root beer buzzer wrap at the rear and come back up with smooth even wraps.
Finish the thread taper, watching that the pearl glass bead does not creep forward. It needs to stay flush against the brown bead or the bubble head effect is lost.
Wind the root beer buzzer wrap forward in even turns, covering the rusty brown thread completely. Buzzer wrap is very thin and translucent, which is exactly why it works over a coloured underbody on chironomids.
Rib forward with the copper brown wire, tie off behind the bead, helicopter the wire out and whip finish a short thorax.
Blob UV resin on and move it around with a bodkin. Less is more here, because resin adds bulk. Cover the whole shank but keep the coat thin, then cure it.
