Barred rubber floss (Sexi Floss) Brown floss (for tail/legs/antennae)
Worm/chewy chenille Black chenille (body length)
Scud skin Brown permanent marker (6mm strip for shellback)
How to tie it
Slide the black bead to the eye. Wrap lead-free wire over the middle two-thirds, shove it into the bead, and lock it with thread; run the base to the bend.
Tie in a strand of brown barred floss at the bend and split it into a short V for the tails, each about a third of a shank.
Tie in the brown scud skin (shiny side down) and the black chenille at the bend.
Wrap the chenille forward in touching turns to just behind the bead; tie off and snip.
Figure-8 a strand of barred floss across the shank at mid-body and again near the bead so a pair of legs splays each side; trim to a hook gap.
Tie in a floss strand pointing forward over the bead and split it for antennae; then pull the scud skin over the top as a shellback and bind it behind the bead.
Whip finish and coat the shellback with UV resin or head cement.
