Angel hair Pearl blue angel hair (Small clump for the tail)
Sparkle dubbing Light olive sparkle dubbing (Body of the dubbing brush. Keep it very fine)
Peacock Lite Brite Peacock ice dub (A very small clump for the head end of the brush)
Copper or ultra wire Red wire (Twice the length of your dubbing block, for the brush core)
How to tie it
Slide the 1/8 in. gold tungsten bead onto a size 12 2X-long nymph hook, start olive 8/0 thread and take it back to the rear of the shank.
Tie in a small clump of pearl blue angel hair at the rear, going behind the tie-in first, then trim the tail to somewhere between half an inch and an inch, vary the lengths, so it forms a short tail with a bit of glint.
Build the dubbing brush: cut a length of red wire about twice the length of your dubbing block, clamp one end, run it around the post and the turning mechanism, and hold the free end while you lay dubbing into the track. (A plain thread dubbing loop works exactly as well.)
Lay light olive sparkle dubbing into the track very finely and evenly along most of the length, no clumps, then add a small pinch of peacock Lite Brite at the head end only, again keeping it fine. That gives a colour transition from light body to dark head.
Release the wire, bring it over the dubbing to trap it, free the other end, hold both ends in one hand and spin until the brush is fully formed and the wire breaks off.
Tie the brush in right behind the bead, bind it back down the shank to the bend to keep the body even, and return the thread to the front.
Wrap the dubbing brush forward to just behind the bead in touching turns, picking the fibers out as you go so the body stays shaggy. Tie off.
Whip finish right behind the bead, then work the whole body over with a dubbing pick or brush to pull the fibers out into a leechy, translucent profile.
